Zinc is a trace mineral involved in immunity, wound healing and skin and hair health. Some UAE providers offer zinc as an add-on or as part of immunity and hair blends. Zinc deficiency is not common in people with a varied diet, and too much zinc can lower copper levels, so a measured, test-led approach makes more sense than routine infusions.

What it typically contains

  • Zinc sulphate or a zinc trace-element preparation — in small doses.
  • Fluid base — saline.
  • Often combined with vitamin C or biotin — depending on whether it is sold as an immunity or hair drip.

Formulations vary by provider. The final ingredients, doses and infusion rate are decided by the licensed clinician after assessing you, and may differ from this list.

Who usually asks for it

  • People with a documented low zinc level on a blood test.
  • Clients interested in hair and nail support blends.
  • Adults with restricted diets under a doctor's or dietitian's guidance.

Who should not have it, or must check with a doctor first

  • Kidney disease affects mineral clearance.
  • Long-term high zinc intake can cause copper deficiency.
  • Zinc can cause nausea, especially on an empty stomach; eat beforehand.

What happens at the appointment

A short session. The clinician may ask for recent blood results and any oral zinc supplements you take, so the total dose stays sensible.

  1. You send the request on WhatsApp or in the app with your address, preferred time and any health conditions.
  2. A licensed clinician screens you: medical history, medicines, allergies and vital signs. They can decline or refer you elsewhere.
  3. If suitable, a nurse places a small cannula and stays with you for the whole infusion, adjusting the rate if needed.
  4. The cannula is removed, the site is dressed, and you are told what to watch for afterwards.

How often do people have it?

Based on blood levels and diet rather than a fixed schedule. Retesting after a course is reasonable.

What affects the price

  • Zinc alone versus combined blends.
  • Whether a blood test is included.
  • Location and timing.
  • Course versus single visit.

Tamam does not publish fixed prices for medical services. The vendor confirms the cost for your exact request before you agree to anything.

Who is allowed to give IV drips in the UAE

IV therapy is a medical procedure. In the UAE it must be given by a licensed doctor or nurse working for a licensed healthcare facility, after an assessment. In Dubai, providers are licensed by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), or by the Dubai Healthcare City Authority for facilities in Dubai Healthcare City. In Abu Dhabi, including Al Ain, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) regulates providers. In Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, private providers operate under the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) licensing framework. You can ask the nurse for their licence details at any time.
