'Immunity' drips are popular in the UAE around school terms, travel and flu season. They usually combine vitamin C, zinc and B vitamins with fluids. No drip can guarantee you will not get ill, and vaccines, sleep and good hand hygiene remain far better supported by evidence. Tamam describes this drip as nutritional support assessed by a clinician, nothing more.
What it typically contains
- Vitamin C — usually a moderate dose.
- Zinc — in small amounts as a trace element.
- B-complex — often included.
- Fluid base — saline.
Formulations vary by provider. The final ingredients, doses and infusion rate are decided by the licensed clinician after assessing you, and may differ from this list.
Who usually asks for it
- Parents and teachers at the start of the school year who want to feel prepared.
- Frequent travellers ahead of a heavy trip.
- Adults whose diet has been poor during a stressful period.
Who should not have it, or must check with a doctor first
- If you already have a fever, cough or infection, see a doctor; an immunity drip is not a treatment.
- G6PD deficiency matters if the vitamin C dose is high.
- Immune conditions, transplant medicines or chemotherapy need your specialist's approval.
What happens at the appointment
Expect questions about recent illness, travel and medicines. If you show signs of an active infection, the clinician may advise a doctor visit instead. Otherwise the drip runs in a standard session.
- You send the request on WhatsApp or in the app with your address, preferred time and any health conditions.
- A licensed clinician screens you: medical history, medicines, allergies and vital signs. They can decline or refer you elsewhere.
- If suitable, a nurse places a small cannula and stays with you for the whole infusion, adjusting the rate if needed.
- The cannula is removed, the site is dressed, and you are told what to watch for afterwards.
How often do people have it?
Usually occasional. Ask what the provider suggests and why; long packages are a sales decision more than a medical one.
What affects the price
- Exact doses of vitamin C and zinc.
- Whether G6PD testing is required for the vitamin C dose.
- Family or group bookings at the same address.
- Location and timing.
Tamam does not publish fixed prices for medical services. The vendor confirms the cost for your exact request before you agree to anything.
Who is allowed to give IV drips in the UAE
IV therapy is a medical procedure. In the UAE it must be given by a licensed doctor or nurse working for a licensed healthcare facility, after an assessment. In Dubai, providers are licensed by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), or by the Dubai Healthcare City Authority for facilities in Dubai Healthcare City. In Abu Dhabi, including Al Ain, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) regulates providers. In Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, private providers operate under the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) licensing framework. You can ask the nurse for their licence details at any time.

Frequently asked questions
Will this stop me from catching the flu?
No drip can promise that. The flu vaccine and everyday hygiene measures have much stronger evidence.
Can children have an immunity drip?
Wellness drips are generally not offered to children. A paediatrician should advise on any concern.
Can I have it while I'm sick?
If you are unwell, a doctor's consultation is the right first step. Tamam can arrange a doctor at home.
