A 'full body checkup' is the most requested home blood-test package in the UAE. It is not a single test but a bundle that labs assemble differently, typically covering blood count, sugar, cholesterol, liver, kidney, thyroid and some vitamins. A home visit saves a trip to the clinic, but the value comes from having a doctor interpret the results in the context of your age, history and symptoms.

What is involved

  • Complete blood count (CBC) to look at red cells, white cells and platelets.
  • Fasting glucose and often HbA1c for blood-sugar control.
  • Lipid profile, liver function and kidney function tests.
  • Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), and often vitamin D and B12 depending on the package.
  • Sometimes urine analysis, which needs a separate sample pot.

Who usually books it

  • Adults who have not had routine blood tests for a year or more.
  • People with a family history of diabetes, heart disease or thyroid problems.
  • Busy professionals and parents who find it hard to get to a clinic during opening hours.

How to prepare

  • Most packages need a fast of around 8–12 hours with water allowed; confirm the exact instruction with the lab.
  • Book an early-morning slot so fasting is easier.
  • Keep taking prescribed medicines unless the doctor says otherwise, and list them for the collector.
  • Have your Emirates ID or passport ready; labs need it to register the sample.

What happens during the visit

A licensed phlebotomist or nurse arrives with sealed, labelled tubes, confirms your identity, takes a few small tubes from one vein and labels them in front of you. The samples travel to the lab under the conditions the lab specifies, and results are usually shared electronically.

Limits and warning signs

  • A package does not replace a doctor's consultation; abnormal or borderline results need follow-up.
  • Chest pain, breathlessness or sudden symptoms need urgent care, not a checkup.
  • More tests are not always better: unnecessary tests can create false alarms.

What affects the price

  • Number and type of tests in the package.
  • Whether a doctor's review of results is included.
  • Home, office or hotel collection and timing.
  • Add-ons such as vitamin panels or urine tests.

Licensing of home healthcare in the UAE

Home healthcare in the UAE must be delivered by licensed professionals working for a licensed facility. In Dubai the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) licenses providers, with the Dubai Healthcare City Authority covering facilities in Dubai Healthcare City; in Abu Dhabi, including Al Ain, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) regulates them; in the other five emirates private providers operate under the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) licensing framework. Tamam passes your request to licensed vendors, and you can ask the visiting professional for licence details.

Medical disclaimer and emergencies

This page is general service information, not medical advice. A licensed provider must assess suitability, consent and any prescription or referral requirements. If symptoms are severe, sudden or life-threatening, contact the UAE emergency services instead of waiting for a home appointment.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a doctor's referral?

Many labs accept self-requested wellness packages, but insurance usually requires a referral. Check with the provider and your insurer.

When will I get results?

It depends on the lab and the tests; most routine panels are reported within a day or two, some specialised tests take longer. The provider confirms timing.

Can several family members be tested in one visit?

Yes, many collectors can take samples from several people at the same address. Each person needs their own ID and request.

Book this drip

Match the provider to the actual task. Ask what is included, what is excluded, whether materials are supplied and what happens if the assessment changes the scope. Regulated health work must be handled by an appropriately licensed healthcare provider. Never use a routine home-service booking for an emergency.
