Made for life in the UAEEnglish · العربية · Русский · اردو

The Myers' cocktail is named after a US physician who used a vitamin and mineral infusion in his practice decades ago, and it remains the template for many UAE drip menus. Today's versions vary considerably from clinic to clinic. People ask for it for general fatigue or as an all-round wellness drip, but research on it is limited and mixed, so the honest framing is that it is a popular formulation rather than a proven treatment.

What it typically contains

  • Magnesium — a key component; it can cause warmth or flushing if run quickly.
  • Calcium — included in classic recipes; relevant if you take certain heart medicines.
  • B-complex and vitamin B12 — the vitamin backbone of most versions.
  • Vitamin C — usually in a moderate dose, unlike a high-dose vitamin C drip.

Formulations vary by provider. The final ingredients, doses and infusion rate are decided by the licensed clinician after assessing you, and may differ from this list.

Who usually asks for it

  • Adults who want a general wellness drip and like a long-established formulation.
  • People who have tried a plain hydration drip and are asking about vitamins.
  • Clients who prefer a single all-round option rather than choosing ingredients themselves.

Who should not have it, or must check with a doctor first

  • Kidney disease affects how magnesium and other minerals are cleared.
  • Heart rhythm problems, digoxin use or low blood pressure need a doctor's input because of magnesium and calcium.
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding and allergies to any component must be raised during screening.

What happens at the appointment

After vital signs and a medical history, the nurse runs the bag at a steady rate. Magnesium often produces a warm sensation; tell the nurse if it becomes uncomfortable so the rate can be slowed. Allow roughly an hour including assessment.

  1. You send the request on WhatsApp or in the app with your address, preferred time and any health conditions.
  2. A licensed clinician screens you: medical history, medicines, allergies and vital signs. They can decline or refer you elsewhere.
  3. If suitable, a nurse places a small cannula and stays with you for the whole infusion, adjusting the rate if needed.
  4. The cannula is removed, the site is dressed, and you are told what to watch for afterwards.

How often do people have it?

Providers often suggest repeat sessions, but there is no standard schedule backed by strong evidence. Ask why a repeat is recommended and what you would expect to change.

What affects the price

  • The exact recipe and doses, which differ between clinics.
  • Brand and source of the vitamin and mineral ampoules.
  • Visit location and time.
  • Whether you choose a single session or a package.

Who is allowed to give IV drips in the UAE

IV therapy is a medical procedure. In the UAE it must be given by a licensed doctor or nurse working for a licensed healthcare facility, after an assessment. In Dubai, providers are licensed by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), or by the Dubai Healthcare City Authority for facilities in Dubai Healthcare City. In Abu Dhabi, including Al Ain, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) regulates providers. In Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, private providers operate under the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) licensing framework. You can ask the nurse for their licence details at any time.

Frequently asked questions

Why do two clinics' Myers' cocktails look different?

There is no single official recipe today. Ask each provider to list ingredients and doses so you compare like with like.

Why do I feel warm during the drip?

Magnesium commonly causes a warm or flushing feeling. Tell the nurse; slowing the drip usually helps.

Is it the same as an energy drip?

Sometimes similar, but energy drips often lean on B vitamins and amino acids while the Myers' cocktail centres on magnesium and calcium.
