Detox drips are widely advertised, usually combining fluids with glutathione, vitamin C, B vitamins and sometimes alpha-lipoic acid. 'Detox' is a marketing term: the liver and kidneys remove waste products, and there is no good evidence that a drip speeds that up in healthy people. Tamam lists the drip because people search for it, and describes it plainly as a hydration and antioxidant blend assessed by a clinician.

What it typically contains

  • Fluid base — saline or a balanced solution.
  • Glutathione and vitamin C — the most common antioxidants used.
  • B vitamins or alpha-lipoic acid — in some blends.

Formulations vary by provider. The final ingredients, doses and infusion rate are decided by the licensed clinician after assessing you, and may differ from this list.

Who usually asks for it

  • Adults starting a healthier routine who want a reset moment.
  • People after a period of travel, rich food or poor sleep.
  • Clients of wellness retreats and programmes.

Who should not have it, or must check with a doctor first

  • Liver or kidney disease needs specialist care, not a detox drip.
  • Anyone withdrawing from alcohol or drugs needs medical detoxification, which is a different, supervised treatment.
  • Asthma (glutathione), G6PD deficiency (high-dose vitamin C) and diabetes (alpha-lipoic acid) need screening.

What happens at the appointment

A standard drip appointment. The clinician will ask what you hope to achieve, and may suggest that diet, fluids and sleep changes are the more effective part of a reset.

  1. You send the request on WhatsApp or in the app with your address, preferred time and any health conditions.
  2. A licensed clinician screens you: medical history, medicines, allergies and vital signs. They can decline or refer you elsewhere.
  3. If suitable, a nurse places a small cannula and stays with you for the whole infusion, adjusting the rate if needed.
  4. The cannula is removed, the site is dressed, and you are told what to watch for afterwards.

How often do people have it?

Occasional at most. Be cautious about programmes that pair frequent drips with restrictive diets.

What affects the price

  • Antioxidants and doses included.
  • Single drip versus programme package.
  • Location and timing.
  • Add-on blood tests.

Tamam does not publish fixed prices for medical services. The vendor confirms the cost for your exact request before you agree to anything.

Who is allowed to give IV drips in the UAE

IV therapy is a medical procedure. In the UAE it must be given by a licensed doctor or nurse working for a licensed healthcare facility, after an assessment. In Dubai, providers are licensed by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), or by the Dubai Healthcare City Authority for facilities in Dubai Healthcare City. In Abu Dhabi, including Al Ain, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) regulates providers. In Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, private providers operate under the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) licensing framework. You can ask the nurse for their licence details at any time.
